“Kiora and welcome to you, the rugby universe”.

Professor Thain of The Alternative Rugby Commentary

The Alternative Rugby Commentary (ARC) is a particularly funny and parochial view of rugby from the only place where it’s played properly – New Zealand.  The commentary is irreverent (toward all teams bar the All Blacks) and has a very strong Kiwi sense of humour – so much so that unless you were raised on a diet of ”Country Calendar”, “Shortland Street” and “Glide Time” you may not actually get the subtleties in the jokes!

Since 2005 ARC has been commentating on important world events like the French Tour of New Zealand, the Tri-Nations and the Rugby World Cup and they’ve FINALLY put a shot across the bows of the Super 14.

So far they have only produced one video commentary for the Super 14 but if you go to the official website you can see the whole series of other videos that are piss-funny and well worth a look.

I must say watching these commentaries made me homesick because they are just so very “Kiwiana”.

The ARC site is at: http://www.arcrugby.co.nz/ and their commentaries are hosted on youtube.

WARNING: ARC is strictly for adults… hard drinking, rugby viewing, male adults mostly - so if you’re offended by crude language do not view.
